We’re pleased to announce our next intensive samba drumming course starting in March 2020.
COURSE CONTENT
The course will look at covering the rhythms and techniques required to play the main instruments in a Rio style samba band – Surdos, Caixa, Repinique, Tamborim & Chocalho. All instruments will be provided.
It will be held on 3 consecutive Sundays starting on March 15th, with each session lasting 3.5hours.
The class is suited for all levels of experience, where each participant will be pushed to learn more and achieve realistic goals. The aim of the course is for each participant to learn the basics of each instrument, before specialising on one towards the end of the course. This will give a complete understanding to how each part comes together, and how the music works as a whole.
Teaching the course will be the Mestre of Bloco 3K and Unidos da Cacatua, Rob Arcari.
Rob will have just returned from Rio where he is performing in the official Carnaval, parading with a number of Samba Schools. After 6 weeks studying and performing in Brazil’s capital, he’s excited and full of new tricks. Rob has been teaching Samba and other forms of percussion for more than 15 years across Europe and Australia.
WHERE AND WHEN
Classes will take place in Melbourne’s CBD from 13:30 – 17:00 on March 15th , 22nd & 29th 2020.

Enrolment in the course is $195.
